Modern Cottage ADU
Everyone has different goals for their ADUs. Whether it is a place for aging parents, to rent out for additional income, or for college kids home for the summer.
This modern cottage San Diego ADU was designed for a food blogger who was looking for a unique ADU with an innovative kitchen and a pass-through window for outside eating. The design centered around the kitchen, with the rest of the living area mirroring the modern, inspired design.
Basement ADU
Do you have space you’re not using on your property? Here is an example of unused space, in this case, it was a basement with a huge bathroom.
When originally designed, the bathroom took up significant square footage. We were able to convert all of the unused space into a beautiful ADU.
Remodeled House with a New Attached ADU
This North Park house was completely remodeled, and an ADU was added to it. The property owners wanted to increase the square footage of the house and have the additional rental income.
RDG designed an incredible remodel for this family home. A room was added, the style of the house was transformed, and an ADU was added with a side entrance. The neighbors still can’t believe it’s the same house.
Above the Garage
In parts of the city with smaller yards, there is another option – building your ADU above the garage. This allows the owners to maintain their yard and their garage, while still having the advantage of extra income from their new ADU.
Building an ADU on Hillside Terrain
Let’s face it, San Diego has a lot of hills and canyons. It is part of the charm and beauty of our city.
But hills and canyons aren’t always easy to build on. And yet, it is possible. RDG has created gorgeous ADUs on hillsides and down canyons. This La Jolla ADU allowed the property owners to take advantage of the beautiful hillside, by adding steps and an ADU.
